It was a lovely evening, and my show at Revive Coffeehouse in Nashville felt more like a performance in someone’s home than one on a stage with lights and big speakers.

I did, in fact, perform on their stage and in their intimate performance space.  I loved every second of it.

First off, my friend and fellow musician Vincent Todd did a rousing opening set.  Sporting a lively pink tie and some snazzy duds.  He played songs from his soon-to-be-released EP “Strung Out” as well as a few covers.  His music and mine are quite different from each other, but I think it’s different in the right way–a pleasing contrast to the ears that is more complimentary than anything else.

Then, I trugged on stage.  Here was my setlist:

1.  This Is Love
2.  Sailing
3.  Like A Virgin by Madonna (Accapella cover)
4.  Gertrude Is a Boy
5.  Arabesque
6.  Villain (Alternate Version)
7.  Fear
8.  Swirl
9.  Mr. Stranger
10.  Up To You

Yes, I did in fact cover one of Madonna’s most iconic songs, and it went over extremely well.  I stood up and just sang my little heart out into the mike.  It was SO fun!

My old song “Sailing” has returned and will be rotated into my shows every once in a while.  I wanted to start the show on a more romantic vibe, and so I coupled this song with “This Is Love”.  It made for a very pretty show opener.

“Gertrude Is a Boy” is a brand new song that I played live and in front of an audience for the first time.  It went over well, although I now have a very good idea of what more it needs.

After playing “Villain” the same way a million times over, I decided to unleashed the alternate, darker version of this song.  It’s MUCH more intense and haunting, and I think I’ll play it more often as I try to showcase more of the other songs from “Seahorses”.

I ended the set on a high and positive note with “Up To You” since the latter half of the show was more dark and brooding.  The audience left ready to have more fun on a Saturday night.

I don’t think I’ll have another show in Nashville until May, but in April, I return to Charlotte, NC for a couple of shows.

This small coffeehouse show gave me a lot to think about in terms of what I do onstage.  My voice felt and sounded great even though I’ve been a little sick most of the weekend.  As they say, “The Show Must Go On”!!

I also sold some CD’s  and got several addresses to add to the mailing list.

Good Times.

More shows and dates will be announced soon.

Hugs to you all!!
